IPL Laser Treatment
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology utilizes the power of high-intensity BroadBand Light (BBL) to combat aging skin with very little downtime. The IPL system works much like a laser, but instead of having just one wavelength, the machine produces a spectrum of light from a range of wavelengths to deliver strong, noticeable results.
Benefits of IPL Photofacial Laser Treatment
IPL targets pigmentation, texture, and visible signs of aging. The treatment alters the targeted skin pigment while leaving the surrounding tissue healthy and intact.
This is Dr. Sarah Sawyer’s personal technology of choice for a quick “refresh” to undo the negative effects that sun exposure and environmental factors have on your skin over time.
IPL is an extremely popular procedure in our office as we perform thousands of treatments each year. With each treatment, our provider delivers four passes at vascular and superficial levels for optimal results.
IPL vs. BBL – What’s the Difference?
Here at Dermatology & Laser of Alabama, we use Broadband Light therapy (BBL) to improve the appearance of red & brown pigment in less time. BBL is an advanced & more precise type of IPL and is known as the gold standard for skin rejuvenation.
Studies have shown it can alter genes on a molecular level to restore skin to its natural, youthful glow!
How does it work?
IPL/BBL specifically targets skin cells that contain excess pigment, which will rise to the surface and slough off after the procedure (usually 7-14 days).
Most patients can immediately resume normal activity post-treatment. The skin will be slightly pink.
